Curation at CAS

The Center for Archaeological Studies is a state-certified repository for archaeological records and collections.

CAS is interested in curating collections from internal projects as well as non-CAS projects. CAS is especially interested in collections from projects in and around Hays County and that are consistent with the regional and thematic areas already exemplified by our collections, such as the history and prehistory of Central Texas.

CAS believes that proper collections management is imperative for the preservation of our cultural heritage as well as promoting archaeological and anthropological research. CAS uses PastPerfect collections management software to catalogue, organize, and manage our collections. PastPerfect is a relational database and a powerful research tool for collections analyses. CAS is currently developing PastPerfect's virtual exhibit capacity, which will allow us to share collections with the online public.

Please contact CAS's curatorial staff at (512) 245-2724 to set up an appointment, to ask questions about submitting collections, and/or to discuss costs. The links below outline CAS's policies, standards, and procedures and also includes all forms in .pdf format.
