Public Outreach

Our public outreach program was established to increase public awareness and education about Archaeology and preservation, and to help give relevance and meaning to the Archaeology we participate in through public involvement.

As a repository for archaeological collections and records, CAS has a unique opportunity to make information discovered in academic and compliance Archaeology available and accessible to the public. We believe that curation should involve a balance between long-term care of and access to archaeological collections. Therefore, CAS dedicates time to finding ways to bring value to the collections we curate, whether it is through providing access for research, guiding tours of our facility, or through virtual and museum exhibits.

Since public outreach is often required or offered as a mitigation option in Cultural Resources Management, a major part of our program will be to collaborate with project sponsors and sumitting archaeologists in a joint effort to achieve this important undertaking.

For more information about this program and how CAS can help your organization, please contact our collections manager, Amy Reid.
